ELA ideas

I would just like to know if anybody has any good ideas for using ELA in their classes. Maybe even how you use ELA in other subject areas (cross curricular ideas), etc.

  1. It would be helpful to tell me something about ELA. Sorry, but I don't know what ELA means. What do the letter stand for and why is it important? Blogs are public, you never know who might be reading your blog, so offer enough information to get people to want to post comments.

  2. We read math books in my special ed math class. When I was teaching about probability, I read part of the book: Charlie and the Cholocate factory. Usually kids with a math learning disability also have difficulty reading. We even do journal writing every day. Cindy

  3. So, Deanna, how can the current ELA teacher and I prepare the kids to be able to function in your class next year?

    1. True! I guess I can look at the 7th grade standards and figure out what we can do for the rest of this year. I hope we are ready!

  5. I like that you didnt define ELA. It makes the reader have to do some research! They will be even more interested in your blog once they have done a bit of research!

  6. check out this site Krystal posted on my blog for ideas to motivate and encourage kids to read. Excellent ideas. Hopefully we can use some of these to help our special ed students coming to your class room next year.
