Destination Weddings

I am getting married this August in Jamaica. Anybody ever been to a destination wedding? Any tips you have from the guest's perspective that you the bride and/or groom thought of?

  1. I have never been to a destination wedding, but one idea comes to mind. Maybe do some research about activities (besides wedding stuff) that may be of interest to guests and look to see what it would cost if a group did the activity. I say this because our cruise is stopping in Jamaica and our group of 11 is renting a van and driver to go to Dunns River Falls. Depending on what people want to do by having guests plan ahead they may be able do things together and save some money.

  2. Through the resort the offer an excursion for Dunns River Falls. I have heard it is beautiful and plan on doing that excursion one day.

  3. How interesting, I have never heard of this, but then I don't get out much. My son got married last May, I have posted pictures. I will do some research about this topic and get back to you. Sounds like fun. What are your colors? I like the background colors of your site. They are very soothing.

  4. Deanna, If you are going to talk about your wedding, maybe you should change your blog title to something more general. If teachers come to this blog looking for ELA resources but find wedding information, wouldn't that seems odd?

    1. I changed the heading to something simpler, hopefully this won't continue to confuse you.

  5. I am excited about the wedding since I am going to it. This blog reminds me that I still have time to prepare myself. I think destination weddings are exciting for all who attend. I agree with Robert. Planning ahead is always good. 19 of my family members went to Hawaii several years ago. If the vacation planner (myself) hadn't planned every day, imagine trying to get 19 people to agree on something! Cindy

  6. Cindy, that is so true! My wedding was not too far from our house and was pretty simple. I cannot imagine how much planning must go into a destination wedding!

  7. Actually not much. They have everything there. All inclusive. You just invite people. My niece got married at the same resort and then came back to Vegas and had her reception. She showed the wedding video at the reception. It was beautiful!

  8. Deanna, I can't wait to see your wedding pictures. Mostly, cause by the time you walk down the isle, we will be done with Lesley.

  10. We can not even go and Skype people in Jamaica! You can have a 21st Centure wedding Web 2.0 Style.

  11. Lol. I have had enough technology at this point! I will enjoy being in Jamaica and not have anything technology-ish around me! We will actually have time to talk and it won't be about blogs, or podcasts, or LESSON PLANS!!!

  13. Aren't we going to do a podcast of your wedding for those who couldn't make it? I guess the video will be enough. Make sure you bring your wedding music or I will have to sing.

  14. Start practicing singing now. I will have so much luggage I won't have room for even an Ipod.

  15. I don't think 3 months of practice will be enough to make me sound good. But the unlimited drnks will!
